As mandated by First Nation Leadership (BCAFN Resolution 12/2023) and aligned with the implementation of the BC First Nation Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan, the BCAFN is working to promote and accelerate First Nations’ equitable access to safe, affordable, and reliable low-carbon transportation within and between communities.
The climate emergency and the growing number of climate-related disasters in BC have further exposed the fragile and inequitable access to transportation experienced by First Nations. Equitable access to safe, affordable and reliable transportation and low-carbon transportation is critical to building resilience and upholding First Nations’ human rights, including socioeconomic well-being, human security, and First Nations’ inherent, constitutionally protected and Treaty rights.
Please join the BCAFN and other special guests to learn more about the First Nations Low-Carbon Transportation Project and how your First Nation community can become a pilot community.
This Low Carbon Transportation Project Kick-off and Info Session will provide First Nations leadership, technical staff and interested organizations an overview of the project and provide detailed information on how your community can apply to become a pilot community.
There will be opportunities to ask questions and receive feedback from subject matter experts and BCAFN technical staff during the meeting.
